As students progress, they build upon their foundational skills and begin exploring more advanced musical concepts and performance opportunities. Key focus areas include: 

  • Critical listening skills and analyzing musical elements. 

  • Reading and performing rhythmic and melodic notation. 

  • Playing classroom instruments such as keyboards, ukuleles, and percussion. 

  • Exploring music from different cultures and historical periods. 

  • Understanding music’s role in modern culture and American history. 

  • Options to participate in choral singing and fine arts school events. 

  • Introduction to band instruments grade 5 through elective offerings.
